Hey Legend,

Last week, one of my posts on Facebook blew up!

Image item
Across our personal and business bank accounts, our balance was…

$138.24

Does this mean I’m a failure as a husband, father, and financial coach?

If you’re going by how society measures success… then yes.

Your bank balance is the scorecard.

Your accumulation of ‘stuff’ is the scorecard.

But why did I feel so calm and at peace?

Because I’ve come to realise,

“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.”

In the past, seeing that number would have dropped me into fear and anxiety.

But not this time.

Because I know your real worth has nothing to do with your bank balance.

The stuff you ‘own’ – your bank balance, your assets, your toys. This ‘stuff’ can be taken from you at any moment.

But you know what can never be taken from you?
  • Your ethics
  • Your character
  • How you treat people
  • How you show up in the world

But, I left out some important information from my first post…

Although it was true we had $138.24 in our bank accounts that day.

We also have multiple six figures invested (outside of super).

That’s one of the main reasons why I can stay calm and at peace – even when our balance dropped to near zero.

I’m not the best at making money from business (yet).
In fact, the only year I’ve earned over $100k was back in 2020 in my last year of engineering.

But you know what I’ve been damn good at for the past decade?

Managing our money and putting it to work for us.

Just this week, one of our investments in the stock market grew by over $25,000 in a day!

That’s the power of putting your money to work FOR you.

Our wise financial decisions have given us something most people crave but rarely have.

CHOICE

The choice to spend more time with our young family instead of chasing every dollar.

The choice to work differently, live differently, and still be on track for our long-term goals.

And when you combine strong character with smart financial decisions, you create something powerful,

The ability to live life on your terms.

This is exactly what I help my clients do.

As a financial coach, I’m not here to sell you products or shuffle your super.

Think of me like your personal trainer for money – I help you get financially fit.

I work best with millennial couples (ages 29 – 44) who:
  • Have young families
  • One or both partners run small businesses (often in real estate or allied health)
  • Are ambitious, high-performers who want to be leaders in their field
  • Are already doing well financially… but know they could be doing way better
Most couples I work with achieve 12 months of progress in just 2–3 months, simply by getting:
  • Clarity on what they really want
  • Honest conversations (sometimes for the first time)
  • High-value actions between sessions
  • Accountability to make it all happen
Could you do it yourself?

Sure.

But most people don’t…

Because,

  • Life gets busy
  • Money conversations get awkward
  • Goals get pushed to ‘later’
  • And without accountability, ‘later’ never comes

Working with someone like me shortens the gap between knowing what to do… and actually doing it.

If you’re waiting for life to ‘calm down’ before working with me… you might be waiting forever.

Over the years I’ve had many people openly tell me they want to ‘work with me’ – but they’re waiting for life and business to be ‘less busy’.

Most sales gurus would tell me to handle that objection and convince you that ‘now’ is the time (and once upon a time, I would have).

But I don’t roll with that approach anymore.

I don’t feel the need to pressure anyone into making a buying decision.

Why?

Because I’ve been on the receiving end of that pressure before and it sucks.

Back in 2019,

My first ever business coach used high-pressure selling tactics to enrol me in their 90-day program which cost $15,000 USD ($23,000 AUD at the time).

In one of our coaching sessions, they even had the audacity to smash a hamburger right in front of me (like seriously, wtf?).

It made me feel like I wasn’t worth their full attention.

That experience (among many others) taught me something strange about the coaching industry…

The coaches who make the most money are typically the high-energy type who are great at sales.

But the traits that make them great at sales, make them average coaches.

  • They’re not as present with you
  • They don’t ask enough questions
  • They talk too much and don’t listen enough
But back to you.

You and I both know that life and business are always going to be ‘busy’ and there are never going to be ‘perfect conditions’ to work together.

I’m not here to chase you down.

I’d rather we work together when you’re ready to get the absolute most out of the experience (not when you’re cornered into saying yes).

So,

When you come to realise the storms of life and business will never ‘calm down’ – I’ll be ready to walk alongside you as your trusted guide
Have a great day,
Marshy
